Wasp & Hornet Extermination

A wasp nest above your front door. Yellow jackets circling your patio every time you eat outside. Your kids can't play in the yard anymore.

Wasps become aggressive when they feel threatened — and their tolerance shrinks as the nest grows. One sting is painful. Multiple stings or an allergic reaction is a medical emergency. Don't try to remove a nest yourself.

Why nest removal requires a professional

A wasp nest can contain hundreds, even thousands of individuals. Disturbing a nest without proper equipment and technique triggers a coordinated attack. Over-the-counter aerosol products reach the visible wasps but rarely the queen, hidden at the centre of the nest.

Wasps vs hornets vs bumblebees — the distinction matters

  • Yellow jackets (Vespula) Aggressive, nests underground or in walls. The most common in the Outaouais. Attracted to sweet foods and proteins.
  • Hornets (Dolichovespula) Aerial nests (trees, eaves). Larger, more painful sting. Less common but more intimidating.
  • Bumblebees Essential pollinators. We identify and protect them whenever possible. A misidentification can harm the environment.

Frequently asked questions

  • When should I have a wasp nest removed?

As soon as the nest is near a high-traffic area (entrance, patio, play area). Nests grow all summer — the sooner you call, the simpler the intervention.

  • Do wasps come back to the same spot?

Not the same nest (colonies die in the fall), but overwintering queens can rebuild in the same area the following spring. Preventive treatment reduces that risk.

  • Is it dangerous to remove a nest myself?

Yes. Wasps attack as a group when the nest is threatened. Without protective equipment and proper technique, the risk of multiple stings is high — particularly dangerous for people with allergies.

  • Do you protect bumblebees?

Yes. Bumblebees are valuable pollinators. We identify the species before acting. If it's a bumblebee nest, we recommend relocation rather than elimination whenever possible.
