Fruit Fly Extermination

You see one. Then two. Then suddenly dozens swirling around your counter, your fruit bowl, your wine bottles.

Fruit flies — drosophila — are tiny but formidable. Reproduction cycle: 8 to 10 days. A single ripe banana can generate hundreds of flies within weeks. And for a restaurant, it's a health compliance issue as much as a nuisance.

Why they keep coming back despite everything you try

You've cleaned the counter, thrown out the overripe fruit, set up vinegar traps — and they're still there. Here's why: fruit flies don't only lay eggs on fruit. They breed in drains, damp mops, garbage bins, recycling containers, forgotten rags, and the bottom of bottles. As long as the breeding source exists, the cycle continues.

Our approach

  1. Source identification

We systematically inspect drains, garbage, recycling bins, counters, refrigerator and forgotten organic matter. Often, the source isn't where you think it is.

  2. Source elimination

Mechanical drain cleaning, removal of decaying matter, treatment of breeding areas.

  3. Targeted treatment

Products specific to drosophila in concentration areas.

  4. Prevention

Waste management recommendations, drain cleaning frequency, food storage best practices.

Frequently asked questions

  • Are vinegar traps enough?

They catch adults, but don't touch eggs or larvae in drains and breeding areas. It's a Band-Aid, not a solution. Eliminating breeding sources is the only lasting approach.

  • How do fruit flies get into my house?

Through open windows, with purchased fruit (eggs are often already on the skin), or from drains if organic residue accumulates.

  • How long to get rid of them?

With source elimination and treatment, the population drops dramatically in 7–10 days (one reproduction cycle). Complete elimination takes 2–3 weeks.

  • Is this seasonal or permanent?

In homes, it's mainly a summer–fall issue (ripe fruit, heat). In restaurants, it's a year-round risk that requires ongoing management.
