Pigeon control and relocation

Droppings all over the window ledges, entrances and parking lot. Constant cooing starting at 5 a.m. Nests clogging gutters and vents. And that sharp smell that gets worse in the heat.

The rock pigeon (*Columba livia*) is the most problematic nuisance bird in urban and semi-urban areas. Unlike most wild birds, pigeons are not protected by the Migratory Birds Convention Act — which means intervention is possible year-round. But that doesn't mean we wing it. Effective pigeon control requires method — and experience.

Why pigeons are a real problem

Pigeons aren't just an eyesore. They're a health, structural and cost issue. Droppings contain pathogens (histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, psittacosis) — a serious risk to workers and occupants. Uric acid is corrosive: it attacks stone, concrete, metal and paint. And a single pair can produce up to 12 young per year — without intervention, 10 pigeons can become 50 in a single season.

Our approach — complete and humane

  1. Situation assessment

On-site visit to assess population size, nesting areas, perching habits and existing damage. For commercial buildings, we also evaluate the impact on your operations and image.

  2. Humane relocation

We capture pigeons alive using professional cages and nets, then relocate them to a suitable habitat away from your property. No lethal methods are used. Capture is planned to minimize stress on the birds and disruption for you.

  3. Exclusion and sealing

Anti-pigeon netting, perching spikes, vent screens, entry-point sealing. Without exclusion, pigeons come back — guaranteed. A displaced pigeon can find its way back to its nesting site from over 100 km away.

  4. Cleanup and decontamination

Complete removal of accumulated droppings, nests and contaminated materials. Professional surface disinfection. Essential for health — dried droppings become airborne and spores spread easily.

  5. Damage repair

Replacement of contaminated insulation, repair of damaged soffits, clearing of clogged gutters and vents. We restore the space — not just keep the birds out.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why do pigeons always come back to the same spot?

Pigeons have an extremely strong homing instinct (that's why we used carrier pigeons). They're loyal to their nesting site and can find their way back over hundreds of kilometers. That's why relocation alone isn't enough — sealing the access points is absolutely essential.

  • Do anti-pigeon spikes actually work?

Yes, but only when installed correctly and in the right locations. Poorly positioned spikes leave gaps where pigeons land anyway. We assess the perching habits specific to your building for effective installation.

  • My business has a pigeon problem. Can you work discreetly?

Absolutely. We understand that visible pigeon presence affects a business's image. We work outside business hours when needed, and our methods are discreet and professional.

  • How long does a full intervention take?

For a typical residential case, the full intervention (capture, sealing, cleanup) takes 1 to 3 days. For a large-scale commercial building, the project can span one to two weeks, planned around your operations.

  • Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. For commercial properties with a history of pigeon problems, we offer preventive maintenance and monitoring contracts — regular inspections, upkeep of exclusion devices and rapid intervention if needed.
