Fly Extermination

A few flies in the house — that's normal. But a swarm invading your attic every fall? Constant flies in your restaurant despite the screens? Dozens appearing in a closed room with no explanation?

Flies are more than a nuisance — they carry bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella) and contaminate food and surfaces. When numbers go beyond normal, it's a sign of a source that needs to be identified and treated.

Identifying the species changes everything

Not all flies are the same, and treatment depends on the species. That's why an accurate diagnosis is the first step.

Species and behaviour

  • House fly The most common. Attracted to organic waste, garbage, exposed food. Breeds in decaying matter. A sanitary nuisance in homes and food businesses.
  • Cluster fly The fall nightmare of the Outaouais. These flies enter attics and walls by the thousands in autumn to overwinter. They re-emerge on warm days in winter, swarming windows. No food source inside — they're just seeking warmth.
  • Drain fly Small, fuzzy, appears near sinks and showers. Breeds in organic residue in drains. Treatment: mechanical cleaning + product.

Our approach

  1. Species identification

Each type of fly has a different source and behaviour.

  2. Source elimination

No source = no reproduction. We identify and treat the origin (organic matter, drain, animal carcass in a wall).

  3. Treatment

Targeted products based on the species and location. For cluster flies, preventive exterior wall treatment in the fall.

  4. Prevention

Sealing entry points, hygiene recommendations, seasonal treatment for cluster flies.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why do flies appear in my attic in winter?

They're likely cluster flies. They enter in the fall to overwinter in attics and walls. When the temperature rises (sunny day, heating), they "wake up" and migrate to windows. A preventive treatment in August–September prevents the invasion.

  • Flies in a closed room with no food — is that normal?

No. If flies appear in a room with no food source or open window, there's likely a hidden source — animal carcass in a wall, organic matter, or a dirty drain. That's exactly the kind of diagnosis a professional identifies quickly.

  • Are flies a compliance issue for restaurants?

Yes. Flies in a food establishment can result in violations during health inspections. We work after hours with certified products. [Commercial services →](/en/services/commercial/)

  • Is an annual preventive treatment worth it?

For cluster flies, absolutely. Treating exterior walls in late summer prevents fall entry. It's far more effective (and less frustrating) than fighting them once they're inside.
